Belgium is the best place to rock out from June 27 to July 6. You can camp in the Belgian countryside or stay in Brussels, one of the most under-rated and love-able cities in Europe, and see Belgian rockers Triggerfinger plus some of the best bands in rock history.
From June 27-29, the Graspop Metal Meeting (GMM) features Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Black Label Society, Slayer, Megadeth, Rob Zombie, Limp Bizkit, Mastodon, Avenged Sevenfold and many others. (https://www.graspop.be/en)
For true headbangers, it might be one of the best line-ups EVER.
But wait a minute. You might also say that about a little festival the following weekend 30 kilometers from Brussels. From July 3 to 6, Rock Werchter will deploy Metallica, Pearl Jam, Robert Plant, Placebo, Damon Albarn, Jack Johnson, TriggerFinger, Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, Franz Ferdinand, The Pixies, Warpaint, The Wombats, MGMT, Foals and many others. Oh, that’s not enough, you say? How about these bands at TW classic on Saturday July 28? Admiral Freebee, Seasick Steve, Arno, Triggerfinger, Simple Minds, and a group of old blokes still going by the name of THE ROLLING STONES.
You can also catch Big Sugar leader Gordie Johnson in Sit Down Servant touring with guitar guru Joe Satriani across northwestern Europe in late June (Denmark 16-17, Oslo 18, Luxembourg 20, Paris 21-23, Antwerp 24, Saarbrucken 25, Ulm 26) (http://www.sitdownservant.com/tag/joe-satriani/). Coming off his recent tour with Triggerfinger, the Austin, Texas-based Johnson will be amped to play in Europe again. Don’t be surprised to see a guest appearance with Triggerfinger or other bands in Belgium.
